Deana sits on the Board of Directors for 2 local and 1 national non profit group. She realized a need for a common data gathering point for non profit groups when she began working with multiple groups. Deana’s first thought was that all non profit groups share similar problems. It is true we all do. ...not enough money, volunteers, time… HOWEVER...she also realized that many times, one non profit had an asset...even overabundance of something another group needed. Deana asked to share some examples of how charities can help each other out... |

Scenario 1 A group was putting on a conference and at the end of the conference, there were party products that we could not store. Another group was putting on a gala. We were able to provide paper goods from one group’s conference to another’s gala. Scenario 2 Two of the groups were severely lacking in fundraising staff. We now coordinate all of the events for both groups so we can use the same staff. We literally doubled the fundraising staff! Scenario 3 A local kids development group needed help with more community service projects. One of the groups combined efforts and the 2 animal shelters’ fundraising groups have more than enough help! Scenario 4 A local shelter in Houston knew that there was a shortage of labs in the north east. Houston has an overabundance of labs. He was able to arrange to ship them to another shelter and save the lives of over 40 dogs! Grant writers are looking for groups to combine efforts. When a grantor can choose between a group applying for a grant working alone and multiple non profit groups working together...Who do you think they’ll grant funding to? We went one step beyond the database and we are providing a means for non profits to communicate with each other and tips and hints to bring in more money. We sure hope you find our site useful! Please provide input! We want to be the best we can be!!!
